Welcome to the Centre for Poetry
QMUL aims to become one of the most well-known and distinguished centres of excellence for poetry and poetics.
The Centre’s international research covers a wide range of areas. We have particularly strong interests in performance and the voice, noise, sound and recording, world poetry, and the relationships between poetry and science.
The Centre’s membership draws from a variety of fields, including English, Drama, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian, Physics, and Computing Science. This approach allows us to develop innovative research projects and teaching methods.
Members are engaged in ground-breaking creative and critical projects, including developing poetry archives, hosting radio programmes, running small presses and research seminars, and exhibiting and performing their work for public audiences.
Globe Road Festival 2015
The Globe Road Poetry Festival will take place 12-16 November 2015 at Queen Mary University of London and in community spaces. It will celebrate the diverse poetic traditions which are active particularly in the East End of London and includes high-profile performances, interactive exhibits, a translation slam or school workshops.
